Adults

When you were a kid, taking care of your teeth may have seemed easy. Cavity prevention is the main concern for kids. Unfortunately the list of dental problems grows for adults.

Reasons to Visit the Dentist

  1. Dental cleanings – plaque and tartar can build up in areas that are not easily reached through home care, and are responsible for bad breath, gum disease, and cavities.
  2. Detection of cavities – before they become too big to fix.
  3. Oral cancer screening (cancer of the lips, gums, tongue and inside of the mouth) – especially for smokers and heavy drinkers.
  4. Discuss replacement of missing teeth
  5. Discuss cosmetic concerns
  6. Discuss dental pain or sensitivity

Why do I need to have X-rays?

X-rays allow your dentist to see areas of your teeth and mouth that would otherwise be invisible. Among other things, they show cavities between the teeth and infections of the roots. The goal is to detect and treat dental problems before they worsen. If decay and infection go undetected and untreated, they can lead to pain and discomfort as well as more costly and invasive dental treatment
